Organisation

Kerala Labour Movement, official organisation under the KCBC Labour Commission, is an organisation set up to address wide range of problems prevailing in the labour sector of Kerala. KLM is for remedying the ills and works for their welfare through all means available such as legal assistance, seminars, workshops, placements, counselling, family welfare etc.

Our emphasis is on to provide better opportunities and facilities for the unorganised sector of the labour class. In India total workforce is estimated to be 315 million of which only 26.7 million or 8.5% is in the organised sector. The rest is subjected to exploitation due to lack of legal and social security. A proactive role is played by providing legal assistance to employees in unorganised sector. We also run small savings schemes and insurance schemes aimed for the welfare of them and their family. Self Help Groups are developed to run small and tiny industrial units in traditional industry and others.

In this era of globalisation and liberalisation, the labour class is subject to the onslaught of heavy competition, often prompting the corporate to push their social responsibilities aside. We have identified several aspects of this strained relationship and intend to rectify the causes from the root.

Technological advances in recent years are faster than the grasping power of human brain and hence problems of adaptations are common. In order to upgrade the employee skill and awareness KLM conducts industry specific upgrading workshops. By this initiative we try to reduce retrenchment of employees.

Recruitment these days became more specialised and finding the right employee, right job and right employer became a complex task. In order to provide credible information about jobs and jobseekers KLM operates an Internet based employment databank accessible to all for a nominal registration fee. This facility intends to address job satisfaction, productivity and increased labour flow.

In order to help the candidates find the right job according to their skill and aptitude we conduct career counselling and aptitude tests. We also have plans to conduct employment bridge courses for the aspiring and selected candidates in future.
