CONSULTATION MEETING ON MIGRANT WORKERS

KLM conducted a consultation meeting on migrant workers. Mr. Benny P Joseph(General Secretary, KLM), Mr. Joseph Jude(President, KLM), Rev.Fr. Jaison Vadassery(Director, KLM & Secretary to Labour/Migrant Commission) gave felicitation to the participators.

Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) Labour Commission has launched a national organization called Workers India Federation (WIF) during a three-days workshop at Bangalore. The orgnaisation is created to work for the welfare of the workers, majority of whom belong to the unorganized sectors. The Commission chairman Bishop Oswald Louis inaugurated the program. MAY DAY PROGRAMS CONDUCTED BY VIJAYAPURAM DIOCESE

Sri. Oommen Chandy,Opposition leader of Kerala inaugurated the May day programs organized by KLM in Vijayapuram Diocese. Rt. Rev. Dr. Sebastian Thekethecheril gave the presidential address. Mr.John Tharapel, Mr.joseph Jude,KLM president, Fr. Jose Navas and Fr.Thomas Tharayil,KLM Diocesian director addressed the gathering.

KERALA DEVELOPMENT AND UNORGANIZED WORKERS

KLM conducted two days symposium on social activist program at POC,Palarivattom. Minister Jose Thettayil inaugurated the program. His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarakkal gave the presidential address and Dr. M Victor Louis Anthuvan, Loyola institute of Business Administration, Chennai, presented a keynote address to the participants. Mr. Joseph Jude, President KLM welcomed all the participants. Rev. Fr. Stephan Alanthara, Secretary KCBC, Rev.Fr.Jaison vadaserry,Director KLM, Mr. Binny P Joseph,General Secretary KLM, Mr. Sabu A J Secretary KLM, and Mr Shaju P Antony Treasurer KLM gave felicitation to the audiences .

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM AT POC

Ms.Mini Antony,Kottayam District Collector inaugurated the Symposium organized by KLM at POC,Palarivattom. Sr.Sherly(TSSS), Sr.Percy(St.Xaviours Principal), Mr.Joy Gothuruth(KLM Vice President) and Dr.Kochurani joseph(Bharath Matha College) addressed the gathering of women representatives from all over the Kerala.

RESOURSE PERSONS TRAINING PROGRAM AT POC

KLM conducted a two day Resource persons training program at POC,Palarivattom. Bishop Mar Pauly Kannookadan inaugurated the program. Mr. Binny P Joseph, General Secretary KLM welcomed all the participants. Mr. Joseph Jude, President KLM gave the presidential address. Rev. Fr. Stephan Alanthara, Secretary KCBC, Mr Joy Gothuruth, Mr Shaju P Antony, Mr Shijo Pallath. Mr A J Sabu, Sr.Asha Kizhakumthala and Mrs Latha gave felicitation to the participators.

National consultation of the draft bill on The Marine Fisheries (Regulation and Management) Act,2009

National consultation of the draft bill on The Marine Fisheries (Regulation and Management) Act,2009 has been convened by the CBCI Labour Commission, New Delhi at Ashirbhavan, Kochi on Mar 3, 2010 where 43 delegates from different parts of India took active participation. The meeting was inaugurated by Dr.Sebastian Paul, Ex: MP; Fr.Jose Vattakuzhy, secretary CBCI Labour Commission presided over the function. Fr. Romance Antony, Director, Kerala Social Service Forum, Fr. Stephen G Kulakayathil, General Secretary KRLCC spoke on the occasion. Fr.Jaison Vadassery, Director KLM, welcomed the gathering and Mr.Jude, President KLM proposed vote of thanks.

THOZHILALI MAHASANGAMAM

KLM Thozhilali Sangamam concluded with a colourful rally at Ernakulam. The Public meeting held at Ernakulam Town hall was inaugurated by Prof. K V Thomas and Bishop Mar Jose Porunnedom presided over thhe meeting. Bishop Dr. Joseph Karikkassery launched a social security scheme for workers engaged in the chuch institutions. Dr. Charles Dias, MP., Dominic Presentation MLA, & Fr. Mathew Kallinkal felicitated.

LEADERS TRAINING PROGRAM

KLM conducted a two day leadership training program for Mavelikkara diocese at Kristu Jyothi Animation Center, Kottiyam, Kollam. Bishop Joshua Mar Ignathius, the president of KCBC inaugurated the camp. Fr. jaison vadassery, Joseph Jude, Fr. John Areekkal, Sooranadu Gregory, Fr. Augustine, Mathai Maruthur, & Shijo Mekkattil delivered classes on various topics.

LAWYERS' MEET

Mr. K Sasidharan, Judge of Family Court inaugurated the Lawyers? Meet organized by KLM in ESSS hall, Ernakulam. President Joseph Jude presided over the meeting. Fr. Mathew Kallinkal, Director of ESSS, Adv. George Merlo Pallan, president of Ernakulam Bar Council, Fr. Jaison Vadassery, Director of KM, Binny P Joseph, GS to KLM, Fr. Sebastian Vadakkumpadan addressed the gathering of fellow lawyers. In order to activate the Leagal Aid Cell, a working committee was constituted.
